Wake Up Early

Getting up early not only helps you to get a fresh, clear perspective of the day, but if there are others in your household (partner, kids), it can be refreshing being the first one up and having a few early moments to yourself to focus on getting started. Getting a head start also means you can take your time going through your motions, without rushing or stressing.

Get a Good Night’s Sleep

This one really is a no brainer, and relates to the point above. In order to wake up early, you need to go to bed at a time that ensures you get the right amount of sleep you need for the time you want to wake up, and reverse engineer it that way. Be sure you factor in the time it could possibly take you to fall asleep, too.

Hydrate

As soon as you wake, drink three glasses of water to make up for lost fluids during the night and rehydrate your cells. You might not be able to down 3 glasses to begin with, so work your way up to it over the course of a week or so.

Journal

As soon as you wake, write down three things you are grateful for in your life, and three things you wish to achieve from the day ahead of you. Starting out with a positive mindset and goals to achieve can really set the tone for the day ahead and how you will tackle your tasks and any challenges.

Meditate

Meditation is a great example of holistic wellness and really helps clear the mind. Or, if meditating isn’t your thing, try some simple deep breathing and stretches. There are plenty of self-guided meditation guides on YouTube and apps designed for this exact purpose – so use them!

Make your Bed

Even something as simple as making your bed in the morning can make all the difference to your mindset for the day. A clear bedroom that feels neat and tidy can give you a clear head – and plus it’ll feel like bliss walking in after a long day to a calm, cosy cocoon to fall asleep in.

Eat a Nourishing Breakfast

Paleo, gluten free, keto, vegan, flexitarian… whatever your food religion, ensure you fuel that temple of yours in the way that is right for your body. Same goes for those who have no particular food lifestyle – be sure to down a nutritious brekkie to give you the energy and vital elements to start your day.
