Yellow

The history of color light therapy

Colour Light Therapy has a history rooted as far back as the Mayan culture, and has been practiced around the world for thousands of years.

In India, Ayurveda — an ancient form of medicine practiced for thousands of years — is based on the idea that every individual contains five elements of the universe which are present in specific proportions unique to each individual. This includes their personality type and constitution. When these elements are out of balance, Ayurveda works with the energies inherent in the colours of the spectrum to restore balance.

In ancient Egypt, healing with colour was founded in the Hermetic Tradition. Ancient Egyptians and Greeks used minerals, stones, crystals, salves, and dyes as remedies, and painted treatment sanctuaries in various shades of color.

In China, traditional Chinese medicine associates colour with each organ and elemental system.

What is infrared therapy and infrared heat?

In Australia, you’ve definitely experienced a cloudy day that feels cool, but as soon as the sun comes out, you feel a rush of warmth. This warm feeling is the far infrared band of sunlight on your skin. The far infrared band is part of the sun’s invisible spectrum of light. Our sauna’s harness this light without the harmful sunrays. In fact, this heat is so safe that is it used in hospitals to keep newborns warm.

Infrared rays deeply penetrate skin to dissolve harmful substances that accumulate in your body, revitalising cells and metabolism.

How does infrared therapy work?

Infrared Saunas use wavelengths in the visible and non-visible sunlight spectrum that normally heat the body. These infrared waves penetrate the body for deep-heating action that activates the sweat glands to naturally eliminate toxins. Since the skin is the largest organ in the human body, a session in the infrared sauna it is a very good means for elimination!

Applying infrared waves to the skin causes our water molecules (comprising 70% of the body) to vibrate. This vibration reduces the ion bonds and the eventual breakdown of the water molecules causes gases and other toxic materials to be released.

Why is infrared heat better than traditional saunas?

Traditional saunas raise the temperature of the air to a very high level to warm the body. However, breathing in this extremely warm air can be difficult. Instead of heating the air within the enclosure, infrared saunas heat the body directly. At Ozone Wellness, only about 20% of the heat goes towards the air; the other 80% goes to the body, resulting in deeper tissue penetration.

The radiant heat that penetrates deep below the skin produces a gentle internal warming. This stimulates the cardiovascular system, immune system, and lymphatic system — your body’s response to that is to sweat. In the infrared sauna, the body perspires and receives all of the healthy benefits without the hot air of a traditional steam sauna.

Is infrared heat safe?

Yes! Infrared heat is all around us — it’s very safe and not at all like the heat produced by microwaves.

Infrared heat is all around us — you have felt it from sources like fire, heated sand on the beach, and the sun (without the harmful ultraviolet waves that the sun gives off). You can even experience infrared heat right now. Simply put your palms together and move your hands about 1/2 an inch apart. You will feel warmth emanating from your palms — this is infrared heat, very similar to the heat emitted from our sauna.
